Day 6 of our #BossWoman Fitness Challenge, brought to you by GrpFit, highlights food substitutions for your evening cravings. Here's what co-founder, Richard Bailey, had to say on how to fight those pesky cravings.

When the clock strikes 8pm, your cravings strike right along with it. Instead of giving in to temptation, try these healthier substitutes to stay on track.

1. Fresh Fruit

Instead of reaching for a pack of starburst or a bag of skittles, pop open a container of berries. If you have a sweet tooth and crave candy or anything sweet, fresh fruit will satisfy your cravings without giving you the gloomy feeling of guilt. A bowl of fresh strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries is the perfect snack to eat while you are cuddled up on the couch watching your favorite show. Eating clean and healthy does not mean you can’t enjoy eating.

2. Smoothies

If you love fruit juices and you have had a hard time letting go since you’ve started your health journey, try drinking smoothies. Not only are they filling and packed with nutrients, but they also taste delicious and can easily satisfy your cravings for juice.

3. Trail Mix/Nuts

A great substitution for your salty crunch craving is nuts or trail mix. Trail mix will satisfy your sweet craving as well with all the chocolate and dried fruit pieces mixed in with the salty nuts. So, the next time you have a movie night, instead of popping popcorn, pop open a can of cashews.

4. Veggie Chips

If you’re allergic to nuts, here is another excellent substitution for salty cravings. I know crunching on some Lay’s potato chips can be quite tempting after you’ve eaten dinner. But instead of eating that, try eating veggie chips or veggie straws. They will give you the same light, crispy crunch that you love all while satisfying your salty craving.

5. Protein Bars

Who doesn’t love to eat a Snickers or Twix for a quick snack? But an even better choice is a delicious chocolate protein bar. They will satisfy your chocolate craving and even come in the form of a candy bar. You will get the flavor without the guilt and sugar that comes along with eating a chocolate bar.

6. Fig Bars

Fig bars are a great substitution for cookies. I know this is a hard one for those who love cookies, but trust me, fig bars will satisfy your craving for cookies in a heartbeat.

7. Yogurt Parfait

This is an all-time favorite for those who love ice cream. If you have a craving for the cold and creamy delight, make a parfait packed with fruit and granola and keep it in the fridge, so it’s as cold as ice cream. It’s sweet and delicious just like ice cream, and your craving will be cured.
