Big chops have come in many forms and this past week, Gabrielle Union had a big chop of her own. The actress debuted a video of her playing an air guitar with her new cut, a layered bob, on Instagram with a caption that stated:
"CRAZY for my new haircut from the hair guru @larryjarahsims 1st time I’ve EVER significantly cut my OWN hair in my life and I LOVE IT!!! Not a wig or a weave … wanted something new and different so I did the damn thing and you can’t tell me nada 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽 @flawlesshairday 📸 & makeup by @rennyvasquez 💛💜🧡💚💙"
Sims also shared that Gabrielle Union had been feeling a bit under the weather recently and recovering from it made her want to feel "new and fresh and do something they’ve never done before."
While we’ve seen Union in fly bobs before, those cuts were done on wigs while this haircut was done on her actual natural hair.
To achieve the look, Sims used products from the Flawless by Gabrielle Union line which included her Hair Repair Masque and an Oil Treatment before blow drying her hair.
"When you wear your hair in its natural state, a curl-by-curl chop is better. But for me, I straighten it for a precision cut," shared Sims with Refinery29.
