If you can’t already tell, I have been on a home-remedy kick lately. That is because it’s that time of year again where everyone around you is sick and when scratchy throats, sniffles, and infectious germs run rampant around the office. Being sick is never fun.

And while it’s true that sometimes you have to suck it up and head to the doctor for some antibiotics, I like to take some preventive measures and hopefully, stop the sickness in its tracks before it even strikes. I have seen a lot of feel-good DIY recipes on Pinterest that you can make, but not so many that taste good as well.

But then, I happened upon one that not only tasted amazing but gave me a quick burst of energy too. It is what we like to call on the internet an "immune-boosting green lemonade” supplied with fresh lemons, ginger and a heaping of fresh greens.

All the ingredients blend to soothe irritation and inflammation, as well as make sure that your immune system is in tip-top shape.

Now, we all know during cold and flu season that the key to staying healthy is by eating right, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep and taking our vitamins, etc. But, why not take it a step further and drink something that is filled to the brim with natural healing properties and antioxidant?

There aren’t enough hours in the day to do it all sis, so it’s important to simplify things where you can.

This natural green elixir is the perfect way to get much-needed nutrients without a big hassle and a kitchen full of dirty dishes.

Ingredients

– One lemon, peeled

– 1/2 green apple

– 1/2 cucumber

– 1” piece ginger, unpeeled

– 1-2 tablespoons raw honey

– 1 cup of water

– 1 cup ice

– 1 cup fresh greens (spinach or kale preferred)

– A handful of large pineapple chunks

– Blender

Directions

1. Combine all ingredients in a blender. Purée until everything is nice and smooth.

2. Pour lemonade into a glass and add in extra supplements like greens powder or alkaline powder if you want some added nutritional value. Stir well and enjoy.

Bonus Tip: Put all ingredients in pre-packaged baggies, so you are ready to throw in a blender in the A.M. Or, make it the night before, freeze and let it thaw on the way to your commute.
