They say when it’s right, you’ll know. And it seems like Common is confident that Tiffany Haddish is the woman for him. The rapper, actor and activist has been gushing about the lady in his life and how she’s helped him become a better man. On the latest episode of the PEOPLE Everyday Podcast, he opened up about the ways she’s gotten him to understand the importance of communication and self-love in a relationship. "I think one of the important things about relationships for me has been to really know myself more and love myself and be able to express the things that I want," Common told host Janine Rubenstein. "I've evolved and gotten to that place.” The pair have been dating for over a year now and seemed to have survived the pandemic curse that a lot of new relationships suffered. Both Haddish and Common have been open about their love, often sharing cute intimate moments with their fans.
Common, who opened up about his love addiction and past relationships in his memoir, Let Love Have The Last Word, is also learning a valuable lesson about how to truly be in tune with your partner through his commitment to Haddish. "I listen and take things in and try to do my best to understand. I listen to what Tiffany would have to say about how she feels about something and just try to understand it instead of always having an answer.”
We all know that one of the best things you can feel in any partnership is that the other party adds goodness to your life and inspires you to show up as your best self. It seems like Common and Tiffany have that exact type of love. "It's about really just being in a relationship where you can grow and you really support each other's purpose and vision. I'm making you better, you're making me better," he says, adding, "and you can have fun.”
We love watching this couple blossom. Haddish is gearing up to tackle the role of track legend Flo Jo and Common is on Netflix’s Never Have I Ever as Dr. Chris Jackson.
