Booked and busy is Megan Thee Stallion's middle name! The rap star's latest brand collaboration with AMBUSH x Nike was revealed this week through a bold, new collection of neon apparel and matching footwear that she modeled herself.
The Japanese-inspired collaboration seems to be the perfect fit for Megan, whose made it known that she's a bit of an anime geek. From her lyrical references to her anime-inspired fashion looks, the Houston hottie has never been shy about her fandom for Japanese animation and manga. For this new collection, Megan helps the Tokyo-based label and athletic powerhouse join forces for a one-of-a-kind partnership.
"Fashion and sport can collide in non-traditional and compelling ways, demonstrating how athletic wear can be transformed through culture," AMBUSH® designer Yoon Ahn wrote in an Instagram caption announcing the collection. "The collection's bright pink and neon green colors is a nod to Tokyo's bright lights and anime culture, illustrating the surprising ways sports can transform the aesthetics of daily life. And thank you @theestallion for gettin on this ride with us." Ahn also shared that parts of the collection were customized for Megan's taste, including the motorcycle she posed with for the campaign.
According to Comicbook, Megan was apparently channeling Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira anime for the collection in an effort to combine her passion for fashion. Though the collection itself isn't purely anime-influenced, Megan's promotional image for the campaign draws inspiration from Shotaro Kaneda's bike from the Akira film.
This isn't the first time Megan has showed off her love for anime through fashion. For her 2019 PAPER Magazine cover, she wore a My Hero Academia-inspired look based on the series character Shoto Todoroki where she sported the blue training outfit, signature scar, two-toned hair and colored eyes. In a tweet of the cover, she even referred to herself as "Todoroki Tina."
