Naomi Campbell is by far one of runway’s biggest stars. From appearing on hundreds of magazine covers to serving face in luxury campaigns. To being one of the first Black supermodels to create a lasting legacy on and off the runway strip. Campbell deserves all of her props and then some.

The 52-year-old supermodel and honorary doctor has officially created her own masterclass, and yes you guessed it right, it’s on modeling!

“Campbell announced this week that she will teach a MasterClass on modeling fundamentals for the streaming platform. The lessons will focus on basics like how to pose and develop a signature walk but will also delve into her journey as a Black model with many firsts,” said Campbell to BoF.

Campbell has rightfully set the groundwork for other Black supermodels to leave their own marks.

When Campbell walked her first runway during the late 80s, it’s without a doubt that the world knew she was special. Ever since her first debut, Campbell’s presence on the runway has been monumental for other Black models to take note of when securing their own mark within the industry.

After being one of the first Black supermodels to make it big alongside other notable names like Grace Jones, Iman, and Tyra Banks to name a few, the industry has come a long way since.

Notable faces within the industry to date such as Adut Akech,  Majesty Amare, Janet Jumbo, and Anok Yai to name a few, have appeared on the cover of British Vogue, while keynote Black designers have also made way within the fashion industry.

To see magazines, the colour, the diversity — that makes me feel like all that we’ve been speaking about … has come to light and things are changing,” said Campbell. “But you always have to maintain — now, it’s about making sure everyone is treated fairly and equally,” said Campbell to BoF.
