Are you single and ready to mingle? Pack your things and move to D.C., Boston, or Atlanta.
According to a new study released by ApartmentList, those three cities are the top cities in the United States for singles. The outlet, in partnership with Bumble, ranked the list of the top cities in the USA for singles based on four factors: dating satisfaction, percentage of singles, dating affordability, and social satisfaction. And those three cities popped out at the top of the list.
Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Richmond VA, Austin, Denver, Chicago, and Seattle rounded out the top 10 list of best cities for singles.
"East Coast reigns supreme. The East Coast far outscored the West Coast on our list, as 6 out of the 10 listed cities are from the East Coast," reported the outlet. "College cities are the perfect place for singles. 50% of these best cities for singles are the same cities in our Best Metros for College Grads. This could be skewed by the singles population of young college students or influenced by college grads staying nearby after graduating."
As for the city that took the top spot?
Well, more than half of D.C.'s population lists itself as "single." And the city scores highest on satisfaction score. "The average cost of a quintessential date night of a movie and dinner costs $105, which isn’t too bad considering the median earnings here are $80,445," reports the outlet.
As for the worst city in the United States to be in if you're single? Sorry, SoCal residents, but if you're single and living in San Bernardino, you might want to find a new place to call home ASAP. (Unless you like being single, and who am I to judge either way?) That city has the worst ranking in the USA, with a big fat ZERO as their dating score. And that's not the only SoCal city at the bottom of the list: Fresno, Bakersfield, and Stockton round out the bottom five (with Jackson, Mississippi coming in at No. 98).
