Pat McGrath was recently given an honor so prestigious that she's the first in her industry to ever receive it. The legendary makeup artist turned founder of Pat McGrath Labs was just awarded a Damehood in Queen Elizabeth II’s New Year 2021 Honours List as a D.B.E (Dame of the British Empire) for her services to the fashion and beauty industry and diversity.

"When I first launched my brand, PAT McGRATH LABS, it was designed to inspire self-expression and individuality," McGrath shared in an Instagram post. "I dedicate this honour in tribute to Makeup Artists everywhere, I adore each and every one of you. Never give up on your dreams – with hard work, creativity, and perseverance anything is possible."

Pat McGrath is the first makeup artist to ever receive damehood, and rightfully so. To say that she's one of the best in the game would be an understatement. Since her start in the beauty industry in the early 90s, McGrath has worked with the likes of Giorgio Armani, British Vogue, i-D Magazine, Alexander McQueen, Versace, and many more. She's beat the faces of supermodels such as Naomi Campbell and Jasmine Sanders, and in 2015, launched her own makeup line, Pat McGrath Labs.

By 2019, Pat McGrath Labs had become a billion-dollar company. That same year, she was included in Time's 100 most influential people list. There's no one else doing it like Pat McGrath, and that's on Black Girl Magic!

From now on, please refer to this queen as Pat McGrath DBE.
