Congratulations are in order for Issa Rae and the cast of “Rap Sh!t!” The comedy series is officially getting a second season.
According to Deadline, HBO Max has renewed the show, which stars Aida Osman and KaMillion, after its eight-episode first season premiered in July.
It was awarded over $12.6M in small screen tax credits from the state of California. The Miami-set series will move west for a sophomore run.
The series marks Rae’s first scripted series since the end of HBO’s Insecure.

Characters You Need To Know
Every great show has an amazing cast that delivers on screen and brings their characters to life. They make you feel like you’ve known them for sometime now and exude authenticity and relatability.
The two main characters, Shawna and Mia are played by Aida Osman and KaMillion. Next up is Maurice, a Haitian scammer and Shawna’s co-worker/playmate played by Daniel Augustin. Then we have Chasity, the local plug and part time pimp played by Jonica Booth. Last but not least we have Lamont Diggs, Mia’s baby daddy and up and coming producer played by RJ Cyler.
We also see appearances from comedian Pretty Vee and ‘Insecure’ alum, DomiNque Perry.

Let’s Get Into The Soundtrack
If you’re a fan of Issa Rae and her productions then you know all her shows are accompanied by a fire soundtrack! Due to the music being so good and fans always inquiring what songs were played on certain episodes, playlists had to be created. “Rap Sh!t” is no different and the songs performed throughout the show are bangers! What To Expect In Season 2
“Rap Sh!t” follows two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna (Osman) and Mia (KaMillion), who reunite to form a rap group.
The show is exec produced by Issa Rae and showrunner Syreeta Singleton, as well as Montrel McKay for Hoorae, and Jonathan Berry and Dave Becky for 3 Arts Entertainment. Hip Hop duo, Yung Miami and JT of City Girls serve as co-executive producers, along with Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas for Quality Control Films and Sara Rastogi for Hoorae.

Season 1 finale left us with an ultimate cliffhanger! We see Mia, Shawna, Francois, and Reina meet up at the Plymouth to announce their upcoming tour. As Shawna heads inside to get champagne glasses to celebrate, one of Shawna’s co-workers approaches her to say she’s being looked for. Confused, Shawna glances over her co-worker’s shoulder to see police who are ready to question her. Could Shawna’s mistake cost the group their fame? We won’t find out the answer to that question until season 2 and we can’t wait!
